Kindle books: How to convert pdf to Kindle format
If you ever try to read a pdf on Kindle you know that it is a unpleasant experience. You cannot re-size fonts, the text does not fit well on the page, etc. So you can take advantage of Kindle functionality such as variable font size, annotation, Text-to-Speech, Whispersync, etc., the only solution is to convert the pdf in Kindle format. You have two options to do that:
1. Use Amazon Kindle Personal Documents Service
2. Use a third party software like Calibre.
Amazon Kindle Personal Documents Service: Amazon provide a service to convert pdf in Kindle format: you should send your personal documents via e-mail as attachments to [name]@free.kindle.com. To have a document converted to Kindle format (.azw), the subject line should be “convert.” Kindle Personal Documents Service will attempt to deliver your personal documents to your Kindle device via Wi-Fi when connected, and to the e-mail address associated with the Amazon account to which the device is registered. You can use the e-mail to download the file to your computer and transfer it to your Kindle device using a USB connection.
Calibre, the ebook convert third party software:
Step 1: Download Calibre for you OS
Step 2: Install the software using the wizards and start the sofware.
Step 3: Click on the “Add books” red button.
Step 4: Locate the pdf file on your computer hard drive and click “Open”
Step 5: Edit metadata (like author, rating, etc.) – optional
Step 6: Click on “Convert books” button and choose “Convert individually”.
Step 7: Select the “Output format”: MOBI.
Step 8: After the task is over (look in bottom right at Jobs to be 0) click on to MOBI word (right in the middle).
Step 9: Now you should be able to see your new file in mobi format.
Step 10: Transfer the file into your Kindle into documents folder.
